If you set your barrel with the muzzle pointing up and action open the heat will cause a chimney effect and cool the barrel faster.

If you've done a recent 30 rd mag dump on your AK it's best not to test the temperature of the end of the barrel with the palm of your hand, branded myself with a nice ring shape.
Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit even if it's subcutaneous.

I did this in the early '90s before being able to instantly photograph your mistakes was easy. If I did something this knuckleheaded today it would be recorded for posterity fo sho!
