Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

No.4 Mk1 reare sight?

#1 Post by Kurt » Tue Sep 18, 2018 1:42 am

Is there any chance a rear ladder type sight from a 1917 Enfield will fit a Lee Enfield No,4 Mk1? I want to replace the 300/600 sight for better range of adjustment. Thank you. I asking as a shortcut to doing the work myself to find out :shhh:

I very much doubt it.

I replaced my 300/600 sight on my No4 MKI with one from Numrich that fit the rifle just fine. Why mess your rifle up when there are good parts available?

Best Regards,

IIRC the No 4 Mk 1 latter sights had a pin from the right side and a vertical pin through that on the left side so, would be a lot of metal work to come close even let alone expensive to convert? Why not shop around and see if you can find an original ladder sight that fits everything else?

In the end it is your rifle and you can do as you please with it.

Mine fit in the existing 300/600 holes. I think it either came with the screws or I used the ones with the 300/600 flip sight.

Best Regards,

It an easy conversion, make sure that its a Mk4 sight (1300 yds) and not a Mk5 as it only goes to 800yards.
Make sure you get all the parts including pins, plunger and spring, Just need a small hammer and punches
and off you go.

Enfield P14 rear sight is not suitable

Remember with the stamped rear sight you also need the little spacer as its thinner than the "L" flip or the singer cast type.
