Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
Why are some gun writers going so crazy over 300 Black out it's much like a 7.62x39
Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
why? $$$$$$$$, there are still a lot of people in the firearm community that take what these hack "gun writers" write as the "be all and know all "experts"" and manufactures know it. throw some bucks their way and they will write glowing reviews for their product. I recall years ago some hack gun writer went on and on about how great the HI-POINT.
COOL IT WITH THE BOOM-BOOMS!! OVA-DAY!!

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
Because the 7.62mm by 39 and .223 Rem markets are saturated. The market is so predictable actually. I'm surprised 7.62mm by 51 NATO isn't more popular, but then profit margins for 300 black out aren't affected by cheap surplus ammo.

The cartridge has been around a long time. The name .300 Whisper just wasn't man enough, so .300 Blackout.
The little blown out .221 Fireball cartridge can do everything the 7.62x39mm can do without a curved magazine. No special bolt needed. Can be loaded from a light to very heavy bullet. Sonic and supersonic.
You can charge for expensive loaded ammo but use less brass, powder and bullet weights ( see above)
It's a fad and may die out. After all the new cartridge is the .30 Ham'er.
Time will tell.

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
Guns and hunting cartridges since the beginning have been driven by new Fad calibers and designs.. Companies have always strived for the "Perfect" new caliber the latest breakthrough. Fixing a problem that may or may not exist
Sometimes they take off and you have a 45 acp sometimes they do not and you have a Gyrojet or Teat-fire.. (I do think the Teat fire would be with us today if they replaced the "ea" with "i".. But thats just me

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
I remember when the super short magnums came out gun writers saying they were the future 200 feet per second faster than the 22-250 and only 3 times the cost. The 30-06 308 223 22-250 got almost perfect.
My late wife's brother bought a 338 to hunt deer out west boy talk about an over kill most deer are taken at less than 200 yards he just bought into the hype that you had to have one. I guess companies like to re invent the wheel lol.

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
One of the main attractions of the .300 Blackout is that it's one of the best choices for silencers (using sub-sonic loads of course) rather than resorting to pistol cartridges.
I have several friends that shoot this cartridge using 180-220 grain bullets at about 900-1,000 fps. The sound of the bolt carrier group cycling is louder than the report.

True but only so many people are going to go through the trouble to get a suppressor and some there will be an administration that will make it really tough on people who own them.

I guess the writers have to take a break from writing about the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
That's another one I don't understand. Most 6.5 rounds are very accurate because the bullets are so long the really grab the rifling. But it can't have the same penatration at a 1000 yards as a 308, bullet weight has some to do with penatration power. 6.5 Swedish round is very accurate.
Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
Guys are going crazy about it because some so called online expert that may have actually touched a real gun once mentioned it. The gun writers went crazy over it because they get PAID by their sponsors ( the people that make the .300BK parts, dies, brass, ect) to go crazy over new stuff so said sponsors can sell more useless un needed crap.
For the past 5 years I have been trying to find a reason for the .300 blackout and still haven't found one, except it is the ultimate mallninja round next to the 6.5 creedmore. (6.5 swedish is just as good, but that is old, don't you know old is bad?)
The 300 BK is just a different chambering of the 30-30 or the 7.62 x 39.
A mediocre short range round. Just a different set of tooling that does the exact same thing.
But they just have to sell un needed conversion parts for all those AR15's

Well do keep in Mind if you apply that same argument of "Why the heck do we need this" to broadly we may have to toss out 90% of the guns & calibers we own..
Hey lets wait 50 years and see what happens..

Re: Why are guys going crazy over 300 black out
Wow what a worthless round all for sub sonic power to use with a suppressor. If you are hunting a loud gun shot doesn't scare deer they almost always stop and look to see were it came from. The only thing I could see a use for this is night hog hunting with a suppressor but as soon as a hog squeals all the rest run away.
