Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

New to Me M39

#1 Post by dogboysdad » Mon Jun 11, 2018 11:12 pm

I picked this up tonight. It took me an hour to get most of the petrified cosmoline off of it. The bore is mint. I believe it’s what you call a B Barrel and is Finn matching. What do you think of it?

Very nice indeed!! I just love the "B" barrels. While it looks awesome now, just wait until you put some of Tom's Pine Tar mix on it. They were made for each other.

Very nice looking B barrel, these are getting tough to find and more pricey as well. I'd avoid doing anything to the stock at all as its already a rather attractive one.. The stocks on these post war M39 builds already have a wood finish on them even though they have a rather dry appearance and any non correct wood finish you apply to it will seriously devalue it in the long run.

I've always had issues of which were the best between my Finns and Swiss rifles. I guess since I own many more Finns, they get the edge.
That's a pretty nice looking "B" barrel. I hope it shoots a s good as it looks for you!

Beauty! Nice tiger strips on the handguard. There's a forum member (Jason) who makes a nice drop-in peep aperture for the rear sight on these rifles. Let me know if you want his contact information.
Frequently wrong, never in doubt.
