Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Have saw Enfield line throwing #4Mk1 rifle had a 1 in 12 twist if I remember right.

I've seen one that was a trap-door one, it's at the maritime museum in Vermilion, Ohio on lake erie

Here is the modern commercial version. It fires a brass rod that you tie to the line coiled in the cannister. Fires a .45-70 blank I think.

When I was on the Coast Guard cutter, we had one that was an 03a3.
Very common on all sea going vessels.
