I purchased an M1 Garand from the CMP South in early February of this year. It is a Springfield model, 5.8mil. All springfield parts except for the stock. The parts are not all correct for the build, but then again, I love the look of the milled trigger guards. She is a service grade, and is in really great shape. Here is some video of the outing... following the M1, I also shot my new-to-me Yugoslavian M48. That tale is reserved for the Yugoslavian forum a few catagories up from this one.

I really love my M1, got a Springfield service grade about this time last year, a 5.4(?)...serial number dates to 1954. It's nearly pristine, I traded the HRA op rod for an Springfield, otherwise it was all correct as near I could tell. Stock, bolt, original '54 barrel, I felt like I really scored. Glad you like yours as much as I do mine. Best accuracy I've gotten was handloads that my Dad helped me work up. A really great addition if you think you'd like it is the Schuster adjustable gas valve. I installed one...piece of cake to tune.

Once I cannot get anymore surplus ammo, then I will have to look at getting an adjustable plug so I can shoot the commercial stuff. I'll try and pace myself until then.

Nice. Do you live close enough to the South Store that you can go pick up surplus ammo on a regular basis?

I'm about 1.5 - 2 hours away from the Anniston. I do not go on a regular basis, but a trip is not a problem.

Thanks for fixing that for me... I linked the wrong video, so I guess everyone is thinking what a 'goof' I am... I can't view youtube videos at work, so I grabbed the wrong link from another thread. Sorry about that. I found a short version of the link and edited my first post with it... when I get home I'll view it to make sure it is the correct video not the video of my dog or something...
