I've been mulling around the different choices available for a Mauser. I decided to get a VZ24 from Todd @ Family Firearms & Finishes. From what I can tell looking at the pics he sent me, it's a scrubbed Romanian contract rifle with a very pretty stock. The blue also looks near perfect. Todd told me it has a good bore as well. I have no doubt that I will be happy with my purchase. I have been looking for ammo on line. It seems that it is getting tougher to find 8mm......Might be time to start looking at some reloading equipment.

Anyway, I'll post up some pics when the BBT shows up!

Im sure you will be very happy with it. I bought a 1939 VZ24 about three weeks ago, and its a nice rifle. My rifle was really dirty and the stock was full of cosmoline when I got it, but I hung the stock over the wood burning stove in the work shop and heated it up until the cosmoline started dripping out of it. It looks a lot better now that its cleaned up. I also did a little cold blueing on some parts were the blueing had worn off.
Now im looking for a sling and bayonet for it. Im also searching for a good deal on some ammo for it also.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your rifle once you get it.
