Ok I read an article that there are feral hogs in 29 of WI's counties. I am in MN, just north of the cities. I am becoming interested in possibly hunting these beasts. Anyone in WI hunting them yet? According to the article, they haven't been found in MN yet, but are being hunted in WI.

Same here! Just the thing to try my 404j on!

There were rumors on a local gun board that Hogs have been spotted in southern Indiana, but I haven heard alot about it.

HAVE FUN, a buddy of mine and his brother hunt hogs. WITHOUT GUNS. they track em down with dogs and use knives. now, i'm not the sanest person in the world. but, these boys are nuts!!!

i know here in texas, being feral hog. you can hunt them year round with no special permit or license.

We do the same here in Central Texas. My son trains hog dogs as a hobby, so he hunts feral pigs frequently. It sounds like a crazy macho stunt, but killing hogs with a knife started because people didn't want to shoot into the midst of a valuable dog pack (an average trained hog dog is $600 - a good one will bring over $1000). Typically, the baying dogs find them, the catch dog grabs one and the hunter slips a long knife under the front leg right into the armpit (putting one in the throat is much harder, IMHO). My son now wants me to forge a long boar spear for him, similar to the ones used in Germany to hunt European boar.

BTW, I am old and slow so I stick to a .45... :thumb:
