#1 Post by capt14k » Sun Jul 30, 2017 8:06 am

Some info on matching parts I am sharing courtesy of my friend Thomas (7x57). If anyone could add for other Swedish Mausers that would be great.

Swedish M96 long rifle (Carl Gustafs-made, Mauser and Husqvarna production might vary)

.) Complete serial no. - Receiver, left side

.) Complete serial no. - Rear end of barrel, left side (under handguard)

.) Complete serial no. - Inside of stock

.) Complete serial no. - Inside of handguard

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Underside of rear sight ladder, lower end

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Underside of rear sight slide

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Underside of rear sight slide push button

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Front face of magazine box

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Underside of magazine floorplate

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On top of bolt handle knob

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Bolt sleeve, left side

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Rear face of safety wing

.) Last three digits of serial no. - Rear face of cocking piece

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On firing pin

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On top of bolt catch

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On top of butt plate tang

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On rear barrel band, left side

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On front barrel band, left side

.) Last three digits of serial no. - On cleaning rod, close to tip (depends on rifle's year of manufacture, however - until about 1911 they were unmarked AFAIK)

Bayonets were also numbered, but AFAIK NOT matching to the rifle:

.) Three-digit serial no. - Blade stem, left side

.) Three-digit serial no. - Front face of crossguard, left side

.) Three-digit serial no. - Mouthpiece of scabbard

.) Three-digit serial no. - On knob at lower end of scabbard
