Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Types of Waffenamt eagles??

#1 Post by Bear » Sat Jan 19, 2019 8:28 pm

I was looking at a 1939 Sauer and Suhl 147 marked 98k today and for the first time really noticed the different kinds of eagles represented in the Waffenamts. I noticed at least four different ones, some just over two or three numbers and some over the WaA numbers. I guess what I’m wondering is if there is any common name for the different eagle styles? I kind of want to assign some name to them like straight wings or American Aztec wings or something. Just wondering!!

Ok, I know I sounded like an idiot BUT, I’ve compiled a small reference list of photos and names of eagles used during the period 32ish to 45 and I can more clearly reference the correct type when talking about inspection stamps!
