Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Norwegian Krag Load Data
Does anyone have and shoot Norwegian Krags?
What models?
Would you be willing to share your Load Data here? or via PMs?
I am looking for Low pressure loads.
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
The Hodgdon website shows Pressure in CUP.
I have IMR 4064 and some Hornady 6.5MM 140Gr. .264 Round Nose bullets
The website uses 104Gr. SPR SP bullets, and a Barrel Length of only 24" and the following data:
Starting Load 35.0 Grs. giving a Vel (ft/s) of 2,394 and a Pressure of 39,500 CUP.
What do the masses think of this Load?

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
Well thanks for the input but I am NOT looking to replicate "a lot of factory 6.5x55" loads. I have made the somewhat informed choice to shoot in my rifle using "Lower Pressure Loads if that is...............Okay.................!

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
It's OK with me, if it's OK with you. I'm just saying I am NOT going to be a part of, well what's his name said this load was OK. I pretty much shoot factory # loads in all my 6.5x55 rifles, but then again I don't shoot Comp. I just shoot ie; hunt or just take one out and run a 1/2 dozen rounds through it just to say I did !.............I didn't mean to sound like I was putting you off or being sarcastic, sorry if that is what it came off like...........

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
A pressure of 39,500 CUP should be at the upper end in a US Krag, and the Norwegian Krag is supposed to be stronger.

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
lloydiam,
That is fine and that is how it came off to me. I guess if you did not want to answer my questions than no reply may have been best. I understand there are some that want to and do shoot commercial ammo and their choice is okay with me. I do not want to go down that road and I just was looking for some input from some of the reloading veterans. I used the wayback machine and looked at some of the backup captures of the original Surplusrifle website and forum (circa 2006) and this forum before the ownership change. Maybe times have changed, maybe some or most of the reloading veterans are gone or have been burnt out or pissed because of the loss of the old post (time and effort lost) I do not know. Anyway to get off my soapbox, we are cool or at least I am.

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
I read somewhere that the Norweigan Krags have three locking points. There's the single lug at the front of the bolt, the bolt handle turned down into a notch at the rear of the receiver, and the bolt’s guide rib bore on the front of the receiver bridge. I guess there was some careful fitting to make all this bear the loads properly. Done properly it would be much stronger than the US rifle which just used the single lug at the front of the bolt.

Re: Norwegian Krag Load Data
I shoot about 80% loads in my Swedish Mausers and am wondering similar things. I've also shot factory, but find the loads I create a bit more accurate at the 100yd (+/-50) distance.
I haven't shot my Norwegian yet as I'm a bit intimidated to (or concerned about loads).
Thanks for the info!
