Letterkenny rebuilt Garand.

Post by Calfed »

I've become interested in the 1960's arsenal overhaul rifles and glommed an "O-66" (USMC overhauled) Garand last year that is in outstanding condition. I also found this "LEAD" marked Garand that is in pretty good condition also.

Still in the hunt for a "RRAD" Garand.

It has the "red triangle" on the pistol grip.

Very nice , I have not even seen a O-66 in person and have handled many M1s. I sold most of my rebuilds while my boys were in college . I always like the SA rebuilds , the finish was a nice dark olive green . Your LEAD looks nice , you gotta love them. You know the rebuilds will be great shooters but you also hate to shoot them when they are in such nice shape.

Nice rifle. Rebuilds are a neat sub-category of Garand collecting.

Thanks, checkmate!

Here is a link to my post re the "O-66" Garand.

I noticed that you got two of the "6 Million" Garands a few years back when they were dirt cheap. I grabbed a couple myself at the time. I'll post them up .

Thanks, Mark.

I'm in the Garand Collectors Association and got interested in the rebuilds when they ran an article on them.

Every Garand owner should join the GCA. Their magazine is great. Lots of great info and stories.

I have a LEADs rebuilt IHC. It's all IHC except for the rear sight. It came that way from the North Store.

Yes. Julian date in the barrel channel and the triangle on the grip. And that silvery LEADs park, too.
