it appears to be from the last block of serial numbers assigned to Springfield of the last batch of rifles they made. (Serial number look-up on Fulton Armory's website). Mine's receiver was made in June of 1942, barrel dated 5-55, if I remember correctly. So, theoretically, mine should be worth at least $47,000. Any bids???
