Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

1943 SA M1 Garand

#1 Post by ffuries » Mon May 21, 2018 1:11 pm

Well here is my first M1 Garand it's a July 1943 manufactured Springfield Armory rifle. She isn't the prettiest Garand out there, and there are many like her, but this one is mine. Here are some quick inside pictures, seeing its raining in Florida for the next week or so due to a Tropical Depression out there. There is a Circle P and Non-Circle P on the stock, other than that I can't see or find any other cartouches as of yet, if there are anymore they are very faint.

Haven't broke it down all the way yet, just did a quick field strip and that's it. Trying to nail down dates for the drawing numbers and every site contradicts each other.

Trigger Group: D28290-14-SA (Nov 44 - Jan 45)
Bolt: D28287-19SA, B 15 (Jul 44 to Oct 45)
Op Rod: D35382 9 SA (Nov 43 - Jan 45)
Receiver: D28291-29 (Jul 43 - Sep 43) Serial Number of 1738447 puts it at July 1943
Barrel: S-A-4-49 so an April 49 barrel

She has some good honest wear to the parts, and has that been there, done that look, which I absolutely love.
