Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

What rifle??? What kind of sks? Here is a list of parts on a cheep Chinese SKS, source is Numeric gun parts. I think you mean part 60? That is the Recoil lug bolt assembly. I never messed with one, not a SKS or AK guy.
The recoil bolt has 1/8 inch of play???? Side to side, or up & down? Need more information.

Thanks for the information Marine. The clip covered exactly what the problem is and showed how to properly repair it. The sks I have is a 1952 model made in Russia. The movement I'm having is up and down about 1/8in at the front end of the stock. Thanks again sorry for the lack of info. at first

Perhaps I did it wrong but tried to follow video instructions (not knowing how thick a 8mm stripper clip is) but did not work.Thinking about shimming up the front of the stock but that is not recomended in the video?

I had a yugo 59/66 that had a slight up and down movement, what I did was glued some very thin pieces of wood (shims) on the bottom "cut outs" of the upper hand guard.

if you look at your upper hand guards, you'll see there will be a slight gap between that and the stock, that how mine was pretty sure that how yours will be as well......just fill in that gap. you want the shims thin enough to stop the up and down movement but not too thick where you have to put a tremendous amount of force the upper hand guard down to lock it in place
COOL IT WITH THE BOOM-BOOMS!! OVA-DAY!!

It is not the upper handguard where the play is rather it is the front of the stock below the barrel. I think the stock is supose to sit in the fuerrel below the bbl. but when I grip the bbl. and push up on the stock it moves up toward the bbl. about 1/8in or so.

I'd trade it for a Mosin M44.   I'd shim it and see how it shoots, does it move off target as it gets hot? Black high temp gasket material at the front if your brass shim stock from Menards did not do the trick. Lots of different thickness availability at Menards, Ace, or Hobby lobby. Make a secure, well shaped uniform shim on the stock bolt, Maybe also gasket material at the front. All conjecture since I do not own a Russian SKS. :confusion-shrug:

UPDATE Took another look at the russian sks with the wobbling stock. The play was all in the front and was at the cross bolt. made several shims got lucky and the 2nd one worked stopped the front end wobble and everything lines up as it should
