I looked for this sort of thread when I joined, and couldn't find it?
But here I am!
Been into milsurp guns for just over a year, they combine my two great loves, history and CHEAPness..
I teach high school in a rural town where no one looks at a teacher with guns as strange, served in the Army for 4+ years, and have done more than my share of helping America reach the "10 million guns bought since January" mark.
I would eventually like to have a bolt action from each major WW2 participant, and I do enjoy the old semi's of that era as well. The present project is finishing an M44 restoration; all I have left to do is re-finish the stock.
I'm thinking Enfield next...so I'll be looking through the threads for any pointers.
But one of my (LGS) local gun store's has a Carcano for $125 too...decision, decisions... #-o

Noob on this board. A buddy out here and Nevada suggested this board for my milsurp addiction.

Still yet one more new member. :)

Why am I here? Not long ago someone gave me a 1903A3 as payment for a debt. She shot well enough, but a PO had sawed off the stock right behind the wrist, so I went looking for a replacement. Didn't want to go modern sporter or plastic, though, no sir. I'm a conservative and that applies to my guns as well. If wooden stocks were good enough for my granddaddy, then they're good enough for me! (Plus, I don't think a 1903A3 looks right dressed up any other way!)

I managed to locate a wooden stock online that looked pretty good but when I opened the box there was a very nasty crack running from the wrist back. A Google search on repairing it led me here, and now my stock is in the capable hands of Mr. Lee (Candyman) for repair. Now, while I'm waiting, I've been reading the archives here and learning more than I thought there was to know about my Springfield!

Glad you found us and your stock couldn't be in better hands.
