What is the best commercially available (as opposed to molding your own) bullet for .45-70?

I'm partial to the 405 grain hollow base for the 1884 Springfield.

Thanks. I'll give them a try. I've used several different bullets and powders with inconsistent results..

I went to the range today with the new bullets, loaded over two types of powder. I was very pleased with the results. They are by far the most consistent and accurate of any of the bullet types I've tried.

One minor problem is the lube. It is soft and messy, probably beeswax with a lot of oil mixed in. I soon had it all over my fingers, the cases and the reloading die.

Which powders did you use?

Mine is partial to Goex FFg, AA 5744 and Buffalo Rifle.

I fired another 25 rounds today with the .460 bullets. I used 12 gr. of Trail Boss which is the suggested starting point on the information sheet that came with my Lee loading set. I got very good accuracy and recoil was negligible. It wasn't MOA but I would have hit a deer's heart every time.
