Best commercial .45-70 bullet?

Post by nrobertb »

What is the best commercially available (as opposed to molding your own) bullet for .45-70?

I'm partial to the 405 grain hollow base for the 1884 Springfield.

Thanks. I'll give them a try. I've used several different bullets and powders with inconsistent results..

I went to the range today with the new bullets, loaded over two types of powder. I was very pleased with the results. They are by far the most consistent and accurate of any of the bullet types I've tried.

One minor problem is the lube. It is soft and messy, probably beeswax with a lot of oil mixed in. I soon had it all over my fingers, the cases and the reloading die.
