Hello guys! I don't post all that much, but, the recent article viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1890 that mentioned how the Boers shot up the Brits a hundred and some years ago reminded me of this.

I don't know how many of you are aware of The Gutenberg Project, it's group of affiliated proofreaders that take many times old text that are no longer under the rules that govern copyright and turns them into ebooks in several downloadable formats for FREE! That is right there is no cost to you the reader/downloader.

The wonderful thing about The Gutenberg Project is you never know what will be posted next for your reading pleasure.

I have a found the Boer Wars very interesting. Mostly because of my fascination with horses, guns and communication methods or lack thereof.

If you are interested in the Boer War a simple search brought 25 ebooks up on screen in microseconds and this link will take you to them. Authors such as Winston Churchill, Arthur Conan Doyle and others of lesser note will keep you reading.

If you find proofreading might be something you have a knack for Distributed Proofreaders is an all volunteer operation and they provide the training. I am sure they would like your help.

Also check out ... 22texts%22 nets you 269 texts (though admittedly several may be scans of different copies of the same book).

IIRC there's a book on Gutenberg called "Big Guns of the Boer War" which is short but interesting if you like artillery.
