It seems like I always get either weird stuff or stuff that I think is pretty cool on tray lots at auctions. It's the extra stuff that I wasn't bidding on that always amazes me when I get to looking at it.
Anyways, I got these postcards and souvenir pictures on a tray lot, and thought you might enjoy these also.
I'll try and get pictures of the actual poscards and pictures later, but here is a picture of the outside covers for now, along with a little booklet.

All I know about WWII postcards is that my father sent his mother two.
They aren't as colorful though
It's tough to get a closer pic with the reflection, but if anyone wants to see them more closely them I'll try. I already had this pic on the 'puter.

Thanks Steamer.
My father put it together and gave it to me one Christmas. He joined the Darby Rangers when he got over to Italy because he was told they ate better. He said they didn't
I had a buddy tell me the ribbons aren't correct because the highest should go on top, but that's the way dad built it 8)

Is that a Devils Brigade Christmas card on the bottom right or stationary? It's very rare and quite collectable. From what I understand it was drawn and printed by a member while they were in Italy.

Yes. Two post cards with Devil's Brigade written on them. He sent them to his mother from over there. I'll try to get a better pic of the cards without taking the display apart.

oops, it says Black Devils. I assume it's the same thing. I seem to remember a movie called The Devil's Brigade.

I met a fellow a couple of years ago who was part of the Devil's Brigade. He came into the unit as a replacement as those guys suffered huge losses. Your dad put together a nice tribute and frame btw! :thumb:

Thanks Marc. He has done a lot for me, given me a lot, but nothing that moved me like when he gave this to me.
He was in a different unit than the one that got decimated. He said his unit almost went to that battle (I don't remember which one, but he told me), but had just gotten back from one so were given a rest.
He was still in five major campaigns, including Anzio. He served throughout Europe and Northern Africa. He was first issued a Garand, but carried a .45 and Tommy gun when he became first scout.
And yes, he's still alive and in good health considering his age.

That's an amazing heirloom to have in the family. I wish my dad had done something like that - he spend most of WWII in England but never really wanted to talk about those years.

Really cool stuff. Let me know if you need them translated.

I bought a book on Verdun at a gun show a while back. It was printed in 1919 and had a bunch of photos and was sold to benefit schools in the devastated areas of France.
