Being a little unfamiliar with this board, I figured this thread best belonged in this section.

With a heavy heart, I've come to inform you of the passing of of user Hammerjax. He spoke highly of the members of this forum, the perseverance of its moderators, and the friendly nature of its vendors. Many a dining room conversation began "Today on the forum..." these past few years. While these past few months were hard, he passed peacefully in his sleep.

His (staggering) collection has been handed down into capable hands, an NRA certified instructor who spent many a summer teaching boy scouts to shoot at a camp in Virginia. While he did spend many a day teaching me his wealth of knowledge, I am certain that I may need to call on this forum's assistance in the future.

Thanks for giving my father an avenue in which to continue his hobbies, and a community that understood his views.

I had several wonderful conversations with Hammerjax, I am saddened to hear he has left us and I feel the poorer for his passing. I am however heartened to think that he has gone on to join his wife who he spoke so highly of - I know he struggled with her missing from his life and I hope they are now together once more.

Rest in Peace my friend ... may the road rise with you!

Tiki.

So sorry for your loss. I went back and read some of his posts. He seemed like a nice guy with a good sense of humor. People like that are impossible to replace.

I will miss him, although 'tis a far far better place where he resides today.

Extraordinarily thoughtful of Hammerjax's son to come here and give us the news. Greatly appreciated that.
