A PhD dissertation on the Alvin C York site. For those that like archaeology. This was posted on the old forum but lost in the crash. If you are into academic reports this is a good read.

The computer gal added a direct link so you can read it with out asking for a down load. More user friendly. maps see pp.73-85; pics of excavationpp. 93-97; Conclusion with lots of maps and artifacts pp. 111-138
This is a informative archaeological battlefield report. Well worth a look.

Got a synopsis on the article for us non-archeaologists? Any words on whether he had an M1917 or a Springfield 1903 when he earned his MOH? He must have had nerves of steel to shoot that accurate under fire.

I'm glad you posted this, I just started reading Alvin York by Douglas Mastriano. I've been told I'm related, in some way, Sergeant York. My mother's side is from the York family in southeastern Tennessee, but I'm still trying to confirm whether or not, I'm related to Alvin York from Pall Mall.
