Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

P17 rear tang screw

#1 Post by lewwallace » Sun Apr 29, 2018 9:53 am

Is this the tight place to ask if anyone has/knows where to find a rear upper action tang screw for a P17 or a Remington M30. Last part need for a multi yr build! Thanx!!

Are you asking for the M-1917 .30-06 rifle or the .303 P-14 rifle? There is no such thing as a P-17.
Springfield Sporters had them in stock last year. You might give them a call.

Lots of these on flee bay
one example https://www.ebay.com/itm/M1917-US-MODEL ... 0005.m1851

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Enfield-Model- ... SwkMdazhz4

https://www.ebay.com/itm/WW1-US-model-1 ... SwVllXHWE1

Us 1917 enfield screws should fit a British P14 Enfields. LOOK UNDER guard and/or tang screws. Some can be listed under trigger guard screws. Be sure you are looking at original, not reproduction which is reflected in the price. You can never go wrong with Springfieldsporters--original part, but you must call them. Shipping is generally more than the screw.

Your rifle is fine as long as the rear trigger guard screw is in place. The screw hole in the picture is just the top of the rear trigger guard screw hole. No screw goes on top.

Hammerdown, Rapidrob; guy sent me this pic. Looks like the hole is filled here. What gives. Reckon the bolts are reversed snd theres a longer one in front and they need reversed!

That is a Remington model 30 in the picture that has some different specs from the military models. What model is your receiver m30 or m1917 or p1914?

To take a guess if you both have M30 screws originally installed from the factory, when Remington ran out of leftover war time supply of m1917 screws they started making new screws that are slightly longer for the m30.

I worked on my remington p14 yesterday and the front screw is the short one and the back one has to be the long one...
