Unidentified 50mm grenade launcher

Hello All, recently a friend purchased a large collection of WW2 Japanese militaria plus some other miscellaneous militaria.

Amongst the collection was a 50mm grenade launcher. The only markings on it are a 7 digit serial number starting with the letter T.

My friend and I have been unable to identify the grenade launcher and I was wondering if any of the forum members could assist. We have exhausted all our reference material and the usual on line inquiries have failed to identify it.

Apologies for the quality of the photographs but he is gifted when it comes to using a camera.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There are some websites devoted to Japanese weaponry . There is a foreign weapons website that encompasses all manner of foreign gear

Better picture would help a lot with the identity.
