You should see how dogs hate porcupine if the get stuck by them they will tear into them. My uncles Brittany got in a fight with one every time he comes across one while grouse hunting he attacks them. Maybe this dog did have a run in with a lion.

Look at the hackles, that's a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Unusual to see whit & tan coloring. Ridgies do not back down.

What peiple do not realize as big as a lion is they do not like to fight if they get injured and can't hunt they die. Males will fight other males to protect there kingdom and females will protect there young. They may roar and warn but fighting is last last resort and that dog was no real threat.
