Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Smaller pictures are show here: The first is of Franklin Booth, the artist that drew & designed the parchment shade. It seems none have survived intact.

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Some have asked for a readable copy . Let me see if I can take photos 3 per column so you can read the document.
Here is the lower description found on the first page at the bottom. This is sepia brown print so I set the camera on B&W. Three photos reading from left to right with a photo of each column- left, center, right.
You can click the first photo, it will enlarge and then you can advance in order for easy reading.
Left column right column

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Here is the correct wing nut found on a single bulb Victory Snead lamp base. It is different on double socket lamps Also is a close up of the white rubber table protector ring on the base of the lamp.
Another repeat of a lamp with its original vintage cord that is always replaced with an incorrect, modern, polarized cord.

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
This is a double socket lamp link that lost its photos. The owner has paid Photobucket for their services so the photos "with a new photo bucket logo on them " have been restored. This link is on the first page my post.
https://www.pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtop ... 22&t=10443
Here it is restored by its author, but I reposted the 3 photos so they stay as a permanent record in this post. The example is just too nice too vanish again. This lamp set up is similar to my double socket Snead lamp.a double socket Victory lamp, (added: the photo bucket pay to post photos, has destroyed the photos of this great example in this old post) As of 15 feb 2019 I see the owner has paid for services and his photos are restored. http://www.pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtopi ... 22&t=10443
https://www.pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtop ... 22&t=10443
reposted photos, originals by J. Le Brasseur from above sourceI have seen many versions of this lamp over the years but never owned one.
There is still stuff out there guy's, gentleman saw my ad and called me, hey I got this lamp and old shell casing.
I will put photo's of the casing in the weapons and ordinance area, it is so cool.
Anyway, back to the Victory lamp. On the shell it self is engraved "Victory Nov. 11, 1918 75mm Shell"
then there is a brass band around the lower section of the shell engraved with:
"They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation , neither shall they learn war anymore"
Was not sure I would keep this, but after seeing it, it is now going into collection room.

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Here is another Morgan ashtray that is on flee bay and the seller has no clue. It should sell in a day or two because it is Buy it now and listed incorrectly. Not mine, but I got 2 already that are shown. If it had the reverse writing, it would have been mine. There are 2 versions, this is the one mostly seen. A HINT to the lucky person. So if you want one, best grab it asap. Time 09:40 Wen going, going ..... I wonder how long it will take
SOLD 21 March listed 13 March - longer than I thought 8 days!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/WW1-Trench-Art ... %7Ciid%3A1
This one has a flat milled bottom and not the brass insert plate to slide on the glass desk top. These are rarely seen. So this makes 5, I have seen since and documented here when I started this old post again on 7 June 2017- and two I own.
And they are heavy little buggers! Nice condition:

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Video Morgan Explosion Centennial lecture of the Morgan Explosion by the author Randall Gabrielan. Approximately 50 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ-kDQZdRJEThe Morgan Explosion Centennial
On October 4, 1918, at 7:30pm an explosion occurred at the T.A Gillespie Company Shell Loading Plant in Morgan, New Jersey. The chain reaction that occurred would leave hundreds dead and hundreds of buildings destroyed. Sayreville, South Amboy, and Perth Amboy were evacuated leaving tens of thousands homeless. Author and historian Randall Gabrielan will give a presentation on the 100th anniversary of the tragedy.
Before the lecture, join us in commemorating the 100th anniversary of America’s involvement in World War I. Explore the story, from the battlefield to the home front, in a milestone exhibit showcasing an array of artifacts. “Over There, Over Here: New Jersey During World War I,” at the Cornelius Low House will be open until 6:30pm.

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Another example of a double socket Snead Victory lamp has recently come up for auction. Here are 5 of the photos for reference. Source of the photos is the owner. Price is like $300 + $40 shipping. Nuts! But its a mighty fine example of a VICTORY LAMP. This has a correct double pull chain socket and brass extension stem, but an incorrect adaptation to hold on the helmet. There never was a finial at the top of the helmet. But, this is a fairly good restoration that just need a cloth, period correct cord & plug. Original paint on the shell and a nice patina to the brass parts, with a nice painted WW I helmet which is too valuable to drill for a lamp at todays Helmet values. This is a 30th Infantry OLD HICKORY Division WW I original helmet. See the below quote for just the helmet value, (if it had its liner and chin strap more like $350) however this value is if the helmet was not destroyed by someone drilling a hole into it. So this is a real nice lamp, with a killer helmet that just needs a cloth cord-easy fix.
No one in their right mind would drill such an example today. This must have been redone in the 1940s or 50s. Actually at $250 this would be a fair price for such a fine specimen.Original U.S. WWI M1917 Doughboy Helmet of the 30th Infantry Division with Textured Paint
Regular price$235.00

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
Call me a hog & horder, but I just found another Snead ashtray in all places--Washington. Shipping is getting nuts, you can expect to pay 16-20 bucks just for shipping. Weight is approx. 3.25 pounds. This one is a little beat and well used during the last 100 years--but o so rare....
Here are some pictures of my third Morgan Explosion ashtray (original patina) Brase plate bottom, ring intact:
It is marked with the more commonly found inscription similar to the markings found on the lamps:
VICTORY
Nov. 11, 1918
75 m/m SHELL
There are two versions: one with the reversed order and the commonly found inscription identical to the Victory lamp.

Re: WW I Snead Victory Lamp- Morgan Explosion
A lamp that I missed at Goodwill that the dogs gave away at 55 bucks
: Source https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/66993766
Sold at auction by Goodwill on 4/29 /2019. About as original as you can find and the idiots put scotch tape over the original tag.
Notice the plug and correct Bryant push button, shuttle socket with red/black button. The lamp has an intact, nice finish and intact rubber base ring with tag.
Just the condition I am looking for. About as perfect as one can find after 100years?????
On Flee bay it would have sold $150-200 due to its condition.
