Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Back after 60 hours

#1 Post by Rapidrob » Sun Aug 13, 2017 8:28 am

Friday afternoon at 1500 we had a rain storm come through and dump one inch of rain here in the high desert in one hour. Hidden in the rain was a tornado that snapped off six telephone poles a couple of miles from me as well as picking up a steel shed and throwing it into a substation shorting out many transformers.
Repair crews were brought in as 6,500 homes were without power. No internet nor phones as well.
The mud was so bad trucks could not get to the downed poles.
I was on emergency gen for the last 50 hours during the day for lights and cooking.
I woke up this morning and found power was restored to my neck of the woods and hooked the house up to the grid.
This summer has been very strange with weather as it has been very cool at nights and ten to 20 degrees cooler during the day than normal. It has rained the last month almost every day. I have never seen New Mexico so green in the 25 years I've lived here.
Glad to be back on SRF.

Rob,

Glad you are okay. We've had a lot of flash flooding here in Missouri. A few nights ago we had 4" in two hours, but I know 1" in the desert is a really serious rain.

Take care.

Hector

Glad you're okay. Sounds like you were lucky . . . and well prepared.

It's been very hot--after a cold start to the summer--and remarkably wet for Montgomery this summer. Last summer it was unusually dry.

My yard looks like the Mohave desert, so now I know where all the rain is going! Tornadoes are no fun, they make a mess of things and don't seem to follow the rules. Glad you're back and safe.
