Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Sling Repair

#1 Post by nrobertb » Fri Jan 05, 2018 1:50 pm

Does anyone have a good idea of how to repair an authentic old sling, hopefully something not too obtrusive?

don't know that rifle sling is for, mauser?. but I bet you can find another one just like that on the net. that old sling looks like a lot of old sling I come across on the net

only way I see you can repair that sling is to sew it together using a old piece of leather the same width as the sling to reinforce it. where it broke is where it was folded in half. so that is a "out of the way place"
COOL IT WITH THE BOOM-BOOMS!! OVA-DAY!!

i MAY DO THAT. The one pictured is for a Danish Krag, but the one I want to repair is for a Type 30 Arisaka.

I have an old-school shoe repair shop in my town with a leather-smith that loves projects like that. I know shoe-repair shops are a vanishing breed, but it might be worth an try if you have one nearby.

I ended up taking it to the local shoe repair place and they did a nice job of reinforcing it and rejoining it with a thin piece of leather.
