Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

WWII usmc wool jacket

#1 Post by ghostdevilguy » Wed Jun 07, 2017 1:28 pm

I found this at the local traders mall last year. I go there every now and then because the odd deal on surplus can be found. Well one time I was about to give up when I saw this out of the corner of my eye hanging the back corner in a booth, I had no clue what it was at the time, but I figured for $25 it was worth grabbing. Later when I looking it over, I noticed the name stamped in one sleeve, and the USMC and date stamp in the other. I need to track down a set of EGA for the collar, but it's in other wise great shape. The bad part, it's slightly too small for me.

Question are WWII EGA's different than modern ones?

You bet they are. There is a book on the topic : United States Marine Corps Eagle, Globe and Anchor Emblem: 1868 -1963 - Pictorial guide
by Timothy F. Klie (2016) Get the EGR and some ribbons that the guy had and you are ready to go.

book is sold here:
Semper Fihttps://www.amazon.com/United-States-Marine-Anc ... 1932970304

I do not see USMC shoulder patches, most likely post war. Any date on the tags? USMC got rid of the shoulder patches from WW II on 1 Jan. 1948. You also have a late War or post war cloth belt. Early War uniforms had the leather black belt with the heavy brass belt buckle. Great for wrapping around your hand in a bar fight. You can find out some uniform pics in the book by Bruno Alberti and Laurent Pradier 2007 Historire & Collctions Press. USMC Uniform and Equipment 1941 - 1945
To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.
