Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Surplus Splurge

#1 Post by shoggoth80 » Wed May 08, 2019 6:43 pm

Lately I've been modifying my kits. I tend to like surplus stuff for outdoorsy activities. Recent additions:
Soviet Plash Palatka
Soviet Veshmeshok
Czech mess kit (M60?)
Czech M60 canteen (cork stopper vs. plastic)
Another Esbit stove (BW surplus. Dirt cheap)
BW Butter Dish (fits inside the small pot of the Czech mess kit)
Czech wool scarf

En route:
Polish Laavu half
Surplus Dutch 35L Daypack (really itching for this, looks like a really nice bag).
Flectarn Scarf
Hungarian Zeltbahn halves (not sure if coming with poles or not, could improvise something if not)

Kinda went on a splurge over these last few months.
Anyone else?

Pics eventually. Some is still in the mail.
I scored a US Surplus sleeping bag today, with water repellent shell, and waterproof clothes bag for $5 from the thrift store. That's the second one in a year.

Oh. Also can't forget a pair of surplus dessert boots for practically nothing. $4. Could not say no. The last pair I had for 6 years before I wore them out.

Scored a couple good wool blankets too.
Italian style wool Rothco, and a grey USN marked blanket.
Italian canteen/cup combo. Beat up, and not as described, but I'm not gonna make a big deal over it... the company that sold it as like new just won't get any business from me going forward.
Got my fiance a Belgian M97 ruck. It's HUGE. Very well made.
