Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Siamese Type 33 Bayonet

#1 Post by vandle » Mon Sep 09, 2019 6:14 am

Attended a gun show last weekend and looking through a pile of bayonets found this 1888 Steyr bayonet.
Not common in this neck of the woods.
I normally buy bayonets that supplement rifles that I own.

These bayonets differ from the M95 with the muzzle ring having an adjusting screw and having the sharp edge on the bottom.

I only noticed while taking these pictures the markings on the end of the pommel.

This highlighted to me that this bayonet was part of a Siamese contract.
The cross piece still has the Austrian Serial number which suggests that
these came from existing Austrian stock and not manufactured specifically
for the contract.

Interesting, a Knife bayonet for use on the M1888 Mannlicher rifles that Siam obtained from Austria. Now what does the rifle look like? That would be a nice find in the US at a gun show.

I have never seen such a beast: nice info here for those that dream....

Even a Siam marked cartridge would be cool & something I could afford.

To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.
