Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

German ww1 S98/05 n.A.

#1 Post by M67 » Fri Dec 08, 2017 11:17 am

Seitengewehr 98/05 n.A.

Finnaly I got my first S98/05 n.A. butcher bayonnet today. Mark n. A. means Neuer Art because in 1915 it was decided to fit a steel flash guard (Schutzbleche) to the back of the bayonet to protect the new cheaper two pieces grip.

On the blade is just MAGDEBURG, below (? uh??) S?C.

It is 100 years from the German and Austro-Hungarian victory near Kobarid (in Slovenia) on the Isonzo Front, when joined forces defeated Italian Army and push them to the Piava river.

According to this site (http://worldbayonets.com/Misc__Pages/Im ... kings.html) it's made by H. Mundlos & Co, but I'm no expert at all. ^_^

Thanks for the link.
I found it, because I have additional data. I cleaned it a little and found markings. SOLINGEN.
It is made by Richard Abr. Herder, Solingen. MAGDEBURG

Thanks!
