Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

50 Yard Postal Shoot June-July

#1 Post by jones0430 » Fri Jun 09, 2017 11:45 pm

Basically anyone can take part in this as long as they submit an annotated score along with a scan or a photo of the Standard Surplus rifle forum target. I propose that we allow shooters to submit up to one target per week via the forum.

1. Only military surplus rifles may be used. Bolt action or semi-auto. The rifle must have been issued by a military somewhere on the planet. Generally this means anything that's a C&R or antique and is a military rifle.

2. Only iron/open sights may be used. Mojo/ghost ring sights are okay but no scopes or other sights which require permanent modification to the rifle may be used.

3. All shooting must be done at 50 yards (or meters, if you have a metric range) from any position (prone, bench, sitting, offhand)

4.You may submit up to three targets. You may submit up to one target a week by Sunday evening. Each target must be shot with a different qualifying rifle though. Each target must be scanned/photographed with annotations.

5. Winner to be announced at the 1st of the next month.

Course of Fire:

Your record shots will consist of 10 shots at one of these two targets which should be printed on a sheet of 8.5"x11" white paper. For your printer settings, make sure that you "size to fit" the target to letter-size paper.

You only get ONE record target, so make sure your shots are good ones.

You may take an unlimited number of sighters at any target other than your record target.

Shot mine today. I love my Mauser.

I seem to not be able to do math. The score should be 69.

Here is my latest attempt with my newest old rifle... I paid $150 out the door for a Gew 88/05/35 when I went home to LA this past February. The shop sold it to me as an antique, unsafe to shoot! I held the front sight at 6 o'clock. My wife and I shot today after Mass and breakfast.

The brass was given to me by my friend Glenn who found a lot of pulled Turkish Brass. The bullets are Privi Partizan 175 grain .322 bullets from Grafs.

Been far too long since I have shot a SRF contest. Brought out the Thin Beast, a 1902 Swedish M96, to stretch her tired bones. Light cross wind and plenty of humidity on an empty range.

Even though it was raining I went to the range and shot my Mosin Nagant M38. I had the range to my self. I was shooting Russian surplus. The first 5 shots hit low and left with one out of the 5 ring.I raised the rear sight to the 200 yard mark and fired the next 5 rounds. Which looked a lot better. I would have re shot the whole thing but I left my targets at home and the rain was getting harder. I`ll try my Arisaka next .

Went to the range today (shout out to LCPfraTN, who's visiting from that state north of here). Shot this with the t53, using 150-grain Sierra PSPs and a full charge of IMR 7383. Temp was in the mid 90s; humidity about the same. Happy Independence Day, everybody.
