Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Forgotton Weapons video of NM MILSURPS 800 yard shoot

#1 Post by Rapidrob » Sat Apr 21, 2018 8:56 pm

Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons just posted on Youtube, the 800 yard match we held. Ian took 2ND place using my M1917 rifle and 175 grain M-118 pulled bullets over Reloader-15.
You can see the video at Youtube and under Forgotten Weapons it is listed as " Iron sights at 800 Yards: New Mexico Milsups Match!"
I hope you enjoy the episode as much as we had having him here. I'm calling the shots, and yes the wind did stay at 4 MPH for almost all his shots.
My rifle is a WWII rebuilt with a High Standard barrel. It has always shot very well.
The target is at your 3 o'clock and is in the center of the small dirt berm. The flash is 50 feet to the right to prevent being hit.

Well that was really cool - I wish he would have had you guys in the video too. Hopefully you all had time for some "gun talk" and just shooting the breeze.

I was at that shoot. It was a fun day, and I went and bought a P17 Enfield this week!

We have a shooter form Portugal who is flying in to shoot with us on July 1,2018, on his way to see Ian celebrate the 4TH of July shoot. We will have him shoot long range as well and it will be a first for him. It should be fun.

I saw the video on YouTube since I'm subscribed to Ian's channel. I wondered while I was watching it if it was your group he was shooting with, and now I know. Great video too!

Rob: That picture on the NM Milsurp site you linked to...illustrates "A well regulated militia" that the 2nd Amendment talks about pretty darn well!

The members of my club love this country as much or even more than your average "Joe". Members are from East Germany (now a citizen and PHD in American History) ,
Bolivia, (and a citizen and ex-CIA operative ) Spain, Mexico, Ireland as well as Retired and prior military service members and a Silver Star winner. We have young folk and old.
There are no members you would classify as Radical or extremest in any manner. You'd drink a beer with all of them. We just love to shoot long range using surplus military firearms.
I could not be prouder of my club members. They are all impressive marksmen and woman with a great competitive spirit.

Would love to shoot with you guys some day, but not sure my eyes and shooting skills are up to the task anymore. However, ProfessorH and I were together this weekend and we both said a road trip to NM needed to be in our future some day.
