1. Only military surplus rifles may be used. Bolt action or semi-auto. The rifle must have been issued by a military somewhere on the planet. Generally this means anything that's a C&R or antique and is a military rifle.

2. Only iron/open sights may be used. Mojo/ghost ring sights and Smith Sights are okay but no scopes or other sights which require permanent modification to the rifle may be used.

3. All shooting must be done at 50 yards (or meters, if you have a metric range) from any position (prone, bench, sitting, offhand)

4.You may submit up to three targets a month. You may submit up to one target a week by Sunday evening. If you use different rifles, each rifle counts for one of the three eligible targets a month. Or shoot the same rifle three times. Each target must be scanned/photographed with annotations.

5. Winner to be announced at the end of September.

Course of Fire:

Your record shots will consist of 10 shots at the target which should be printed on a sheet of 8.5"x11" white paper. For your printer settings, make sure that you "size to fit" the target to letter-size paper.

You only get ONE record target, so make sure your shots are good ones.

You may take an unlimited number of sighters at any target other than your record target.

Use the SRF Target 2014.

My M1 Carbine is both accurate and I can see the freaking front sight.

I took my 1927 Izhevsk 91/30. It has been a dozen years or so since I last shot it. I tried another batch of Hungarian LB and did not experience any click-bangs. Cold but not nearly as windy as the other day.

It was the 1927 Tula 91/30's turn this week. 4 degrees with a windchill in the -20's. The wind was brutal and I should of worn a balaclava...my nose got quite cold.

Temperatures were up a little but still plenty of wind. I fired my Czech 98/22 with some surplus ammo that I am not sure where it was made. Only had 15 rounds. The 98/22 sure is a fine rifle.

A great day to be shooting. 7 degrees F. Light winds from left to right. Fresh snow and I was the first to break trai out therel. The rifle was an all matching Izhevsk 1940 91/30 Finn captured. I was aiming a bit high but it grouped very nicely. I think it felt at home in the snow.

A second attempt with the 1940 91/30. Most of the snow is melted but still plenty of wind. The best grouping for this rifle so far but room for improvement. :)

Well, here's my first entry.

Image

Wouldn't have been half bad had I not seemingly whiffed one shot completely off paper. Not sure how I did that, with the other 9 relatively close together. Either way, here it is, still not a bad start for me.
