Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Winter 2020 50 Yard Postal Shoot

#1 Post by Cattus Borealis » Tue Feb 18, 2020 11:54 am

This was borrowed from AM Raider's Spring Match:

1. Only military surplus rifles may be used. Bolt action or semi-auto. The rifle must have been issued by a military somewhere on the planet. Generally this means anything that's a C&R or antique and is a military rifle.

2. Only iron/open sights may be used. Mojo/ghost ring sights and Smith Sights are okay but no scopes or other sights which require permanent modification to the rifle may be used.

3. All shooting must be done at 50 yards (or meters, if you have a metric range) from the prone or sandbagged bench position. NO shooting lead sleds or gun rests.

4.You may submit an unlimited amount of targets a month. Does not have to be the same rifle.

5. You may use issued surplus ammo or handloads.

6. Match will end Easter Sunday April 12th.

Course of Fire:

Your record shots will consist of 10 shots at the target which should be printed on a sheet of 8.5"x11" white paper. For your printer settings, make sure that you "size to fit" the target to letter-size paper.

You only get ONE record target, so make sure your shots are good ones.

You may take an unlimited number of sighters at any target other than your record target.

Use the SRF 2014 Target . (It is attached)

Take lots of pictures!

AK’s with iron sights and otherwise basic, acceptable for the shoot?

This should be fun. It'll get me off my pawnshop sporters and back on iron sights.

How would you score 10 shots done at only 50 yards ? It would be a ragged hole .

Fortunately (in reality unfortunately) I generally don't have that problem. Especially if I'm not resting it on something while shooting.

I guess since we can rest the gun for this shoot, I can see your point a bit better. Still sadly won't be a problem for me, haha.

What constitutes a sandbagged position? I don't have any sandbags, but could I rest it on my backpack to use like a sandbag? If nothing else I can always shoot from prone, but for me shooting the AK from prone with the regular mag feels pretty uncomfortable.

The intent is what a soldier would use as in the field. Rucksack or backpack is ok.
