Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

NM MILSURPS January Handgun shoot

#1 Post by Rapidrob » Wed Jan 01, 2020 11:47 am

Happy New Year!

This month we will hold a variable range pistol match. There will be a variety of pistol targets set at distances as far as 75 yards.

Pistols / Revolvers will be Military / Federal Police as issued to their members. *When in doubt provide a photo link of your firearm being used by the forces.

There will be knock down and stationary targets.

A rapid fire leg will be held at one of the stationary targets. A reload for this target will be necessary. Pistols/Revolvers that can be quickly reloaded are recommended to keep the match up to "speed".

The rapid fire leg will be timed/rounds on target scored.

The other legs will be rounds on target/knocked down with total rounds fired scored within a set time frame.

I will have several firing points / legs for safety and distances.

For this months match bring 50 rounds of ammunition.

Actual match set up will be dependent on the weather the day of the match.

We will practice each Saturday before the match.

*The smallest caliber that will knock down the targets is .32ACP (7.65 Browning) that can be used for the match.

How many rounds per target will be determined at our practices by members results on target.

*********************

Practices will have members in FRONT of the normal firing line at the new firing lines.

NO OTHER ranges will be open for live fire with other firearms unless cleared by me first and a safe firing point has been established.

The match will be held at to 200 meter firing range.

As the shooter moves to / from the matches firing points the handguns will be unloaded and the muzzles pointed up / or down range at all times.

A holster may be used to carry the UNLOADED handgun to the next firing point / leg of the match.

The holster flap / strap will be secured holding the handgun in the holster. The handgun is to remain in the holster un-touched by the shooter until the shooter is at the firing line and told to safely remove the handgun from the holster for loading at the bench.

Handguns will be placed on the bench in front of the shooter at the firing line, actions open, unloaded, muzzle pointing down range until the shooter is told to load and make ready.

********************

For 2020 year, please show up no later than 0830 to help with the set up.

Members are required to stay for the whole match to help with tear down unless prior notification to me has been made.

*******************

Lets have safe fun in 2020!

The first practice was a blast. There were so many fired cases on the firing line cement floor we had to police brass four times!
Everyone did well. We set up 15 targets from 20 yards out to 70 yards. The 10" tall 70 yard targets were a challenge to hit but we did.
