Today was the big annual Cherry Festival parade in Traverse City. For the first time there were no WWII veterans riding in the parade. Sadly, I guess we've come to the end of an era.

it was something like 5 or 6 years ago the last WWI vet passed away. although it's not the end of the era of WWII vets, it's approaching.

That is sad. I marched in the Cherry Parade as a Boy Scout when I was 12: still plenty of the Greatest Generation back then (1984.) I can remember, when I was a small child, WWI veterans in our towns Memorial Day parades (Alanson, Michigan.) Yeah, they were up there in years, but still marched!
