Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Reloading older Spanish 1893s and or Rolling Blocks in 7mm?

#1 Post by Kevinofborg » Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:05 pm

Does anyone use these in reloading older Spanish 1893s and or Rolling Blocks in 7mm?

Hornady InterLock Bullets 284 Caliber, 7mm (284 Diameter) 175 Grain Spire

How about Lyman #287308 162gr cast?

One of my 1893's looks to have a groove diameter of .2855 and the bore at .279 if I measured the slug right. It did not shoot to well with Remington Coreloks or the two PPUs I shot out of it.

I had read that the S&B SPCE I think 173g SP do well in the older Spanish mausers so I have some on order.

Thoughts?

I've had good results in my 1893s with 170 grain, RN, flat base. They measured .284. Even better was some 153 grain spitzers that measured .287.

LEP,

Are these two still for sale or have they been manufacture discontinued?

Thanks,
Kevin

The 170s are Sierra #1950. The 153 (as measured) are Spanish surplus.

Kevin, how did those 173-grain S&Bs work out?

I have some 175-grain RNSP pulls I got from Rocky Mountain Reloading, but I haven't done anything with them yet.
