got this at the gunshow today for 500 otd all matching BYF43 bore is good with some light pitting, light pitting through out the slide and crown. holster has alot of character but is stamped P38 JWa 44. someone parkerized it though finish not original. was thinkign about getting it factory blued and crown cleaned up as the collector value is already out the window since its been parked. no russian marks no import marks. what do you guys think please be honest i have thick skin. i know these in nice condition are ~700 sans holster i dont have that kinda money. i like shooters but also value the colector aspect of it. im not super well versed on these another seller at a table gave me some info on it said i didnt get burned for 500 and that it was fair :? i feel that if i get it blued and restore it to factory spec it should still be nice. im mostly a purist but if im going to refinish it its going to be factory spec just like they would have done 60 yrs ago. comments thanks-alex

$500 is a good deal. The holster, if real, is worth $200+. Can we get some close ups of the markings on the pistol and holster?

I think you did quite well with the holster in the deal, good deal on the pistol by itself. My russian capture '45 SpreeWerk was about $550 I think, and I'd rather have a parked gun than this black dipped standard Russian finish.

Ditto. That would be a hard one to walk by, especially if it's matching.

Factory spec was well over seventy years ago, I would recommend not re-bluing it.

??????????? rebluing it back to factory spec, someone parkerized it. im going to have the gunsmith try to minimize or eliminate the pitting on the slide w/o taking off or lessening the proofs and put a factory finish in it not a high polish blue. its already been messed with so atleast i can try to restore it to its truer form
