What kind of material are you using in your safe were the barrel rests in the rack groove's , Ive tried cotton , felt, and the oil is still absorbing in to the material, leaving the barrel dry, and in 2 cases removing the blueing, both of those were Winchester 94's, post 64

I use non slip tool box linner or drawer liner. Not the cheap perforated stuff but the solid mat material. No problem with rust, oil absurbtion or other detrimental effects.
