This is my MK ! that I got a stupid good price from a now bankrupt vendor. The powder charge is 18 grains of Black Powder with a 250 grain unpacked lead bullet. While it is more fun than you should be allowed to have when shooting, it is a bona fide nightmare to clean. I finally took the pistol completely apart, down to disassembly of the cylinder to get it clean. Interestingly enough, there is a timing mark on the inside of the cylinder that when you line up the little plug, allows the pistol to shoot in double action with no hesitation or drag. WAY COOL to do that.
The Black Powder charge was replaced the year after the pistol was introduced by 11 grains of cordite. To date, I have been unable to find a reliable conversion factor for substituting a modern pistol powder for the cordite.

Gander Mountain went under? Say it isn't so! Gee, and I thought Cabelas labelling a Krag as a Springfield was horrible (I saw that in WV off I-70).

Best Regards,

Yup, Fantasy Mountain is going out of business. When you go by, the remaining minions are standing outside with signs advertising the sale. No real discounts on guns yet.

So sad, and probably still stuck with that Enfield sniper. Prices are so high with AIM SURPLUS 45 minutes down the road.

Hey Mark, when you pay full retail for something and then try to sell it you aren't going to be around for long. I got my Webley MK 1 and won't shed any tears for those people. In any event, I will need to speak with you about a sizing die for my Webley as it slugs at .448 which isn't even close to the advertised bore.

Sorry but, I see this differently, I dislike seeing any American business going belly up. I'll miss Gander Mountain.

S.B. I also dislike it when any company goes belly up. In the case of Gander Mountain, their management seems to have given up trying to compete with Cabelas, Bass Pro Shop and Field & Stream. Their services became fewer and fewer as time went on and what they did offer was not of the standard set by other vendors. When a firm self destructs, you cannot but hold the people in charge responsible.

Update, Gander Mountain is restructuring as Gander World or something or other, not going under. I received notice of this recently through my credit card with them, Cylinder barrel gap looks a bit wide, has this been shaved for .45 ACP?

At some point the cylinder was shaved. However, unlike the the shaved MK VI pistols I have seen, the metal was reblued not left in the white. This may have been part of the switch from black powder to cordite. It was found that the cordite was more efficient in a smaller case than used by the black powder case.

I'm curious, being shaved do you use ACP cases with moon clips with black powder? If so, what is your load for this gun?
