Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

1903 Colt

#1 Post by DeaconKC » Sun Jun 04, 2017 4:24 pm

These were issued to General Officers until they ran out of them in 1954. One of John M. Browning's most popular designs, a very sweet shooter, flat and mild recoil. Typical horrible sights for a gun from this era.

1903 Pocket Hammerless is a neat little gun. Totally agree with you about the sights though. I doubt mine ever saw military service, but mfg date is ~1920. Traded a beretta 96 d +100 cash for it.

I think you got the best of that trade. I've been looking at 1903's made in Sweden with a 5" barrel. Anybody got one and how does it shoot?

I picked up a Spanish made Ruby pistol that served in the French army in WWI. It's a copy of the 1903 minus most of the safety features with 3 more bullets in the magazine. The grip is longer as a result. Not as refined as the the Colt 1903, more like a sawed off 1911.

Best Regards,

Mark

Lovely guns. For awhile I carried one just because it was lite and easy to conceal.

These are wonderful little pocket pistols. My father had one in the top drawer of the office at his gas station for 20+ years. Thankfully he never had to use it. I just wish the .32 acp ammo was cheaper.

I started working as a police officer in 1973. My first off-duty handgun was a nickel 1903. Wish I could get that one back.
