Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

1943 Remington Rand

#1 Post by M14man » Thu Jan 18, 2018 12:02 pm

Back about 11 years ago, I thought I over paid for this pistol. $1000...now that price is a steal.
This is a 1943 made Remington Rand. With the ferver coming over the CMP pistols, this is a honey since it is not a mixture of parts.

HI M14 - I have one similar and if you don't mind I have a questions. How does one tell if just the Rem slide has been changed. I bought mine in the early 60's and did a few things to it. I had the barrel and bushing chrome plated to get rid of the slop, gave it the 'NRA 1911 Accurizing Job', and had the four items gold plated. At the time it was just another .45, may still be...probable is

I seem to be unable to get rid of the double photo.

You can check to see if the serial number is in a Rem Rand assigned block. But I can tell you for sure you have a M1911 frame, so likely the frame is Colt, and that it received a different slide at another time. You have a short grip safety, long trigger from M1911. Looks like a older slide release too and a older safety...from a M1911..Cant see the mainspring housing.WW2 grips...Thus a rebuilt gun.

Thank you much M14 - No, the S/N doesn't fit the Rem Rand type but after I did the NRA Accurizing job, it has no slop and it has never malfunctioned with any of my reloads. Now, what do these little marks mean to you, if again you don't mind?
It sure hasn't been abused.
Thanks again,

Ah...lend lease gun with British NitroProof marks. Those are British stamps showing the gun passed testing.
I believe that is a Birmingham Small Arms stamp. (Who did testing)
