Getting a used M74 Sporter in a trade, good deal for me.

One problem:

NO iron sights.

It DOES have rails on the handguard. I am thinking about buying a decent 4x, red dot, or holosight. Any good suggestions? Nothing too pricey, just something sturdy, will stay attached. I'd like something without batteries.


Or....where can I but iron sights? Front and rear...and how hard would they be to attach?

What kind of rail does it have? Some of the stuff out there might not be stable enough for mounting an optic. Micro red dots are a good choice for handguard mounts. Primary Arms and Bushnell make good, affordable ones. The batteries last for ages.

I'd still put irons on it. What is missing from the rifle? Just the rear leaf and the front post or is the whole front sight block gone? APEX Gun Parts sell surplus versions all the individual components, but Cope's also sells the front half and a tritium-infused rear sight.

wait, how's it not have sights?

I thought the M74 was their Bulgarian AK-74?
