In 2009 I got a Romanian G 1978 dated AK, which has a US-Made receiver manufactured by Armory USA in Houston and is also labeled with a stamp "SIA GARDNRVL NV" on the left side of the receiver. Serial #B 12XX stamped on the right side of the receiver. Apparently neither company is still in the AK business, so my question is: How does this manufacturer compare with others?

This rifle appears to have the original barrel but it is parkerized, as are the rest of the exterior parts--stock is an underfolder. I've fired it often and performance is good.

I have an Armory USA receiver on my ak as well. All I know is that I checked into it once regarding a warranty repair (nothing wrong with the rifle at all, just liked to know who to call) and apparently my receiver was made by A-USA and sold to another company for building.
I was told by the second company that A-USA was out of business, but made excellent receivers. The were using someone else now, but wish they could still buy them.
Mine is a perfect shooter. Never had a problem with it.

Thanks. What about SIA in Gardnerville NV? Google says they're still in the firearms business but no indication of AKs

Never heard of that one. Mine is stamped Sierra Arms International, Wellington NV. You sure that isn't "SAI" on your receiver?

I have two rifles built on AUSA receivers back in 06 and both are top shelf. They were the receiver of choice over the chicken foot ITM's until NDS came along.

Armory USA makes receivers.

I have built many AKs using those receivers.
They were well made but needed a " lot " of fitting.
Not made to spec. But work just fine after the builder adjusts them.

my AK-74 has an Armory USA made reciever and is a very solid gun, no issues with the reciever outside of removing the bolt/carrier, slightly tricky, but it can be done
