Well I bid and lost this one.

I meant to ask Kevin, why do you like the rifle so much?? you do have to admit it is a bit of an acquired taste :)

Well several reasons. The first is I started collecting Turk rifles and I have most types except the ones in the original calibers and the Enfauser. Second is I like the Odd Balls. Third I like the history (story) on them. Lastly, I like to look at and take them apart and see what did these guys have to do to make this type of rifle happen.

Kevin

Another just wild issue is how much did they have to spend to modify these old Enfields, and why?? Was there a special purpose for their conversion..

I know that the Turks were pretty strapped for money and wanted to standardize their rifles, But still
when these rifles came up in rotation, someone had to come up with a whole new design, new parts had to be fabricated, some one had to say.. "Add those extra man hours because we need those 25 to 100 guns in service." And it had to be cheaper or more timely then making new ones I am supposing

And why did they not convert a few of those Bertiers they had in Stock to 8mm Mauser. Now I was reading that they did convert some Mosins to 8mm. But I have not seen one in the flesh.
