Sorry for the crap pic, best I could do. I've got some time off coming up, plan on stripping the rifle completely down and give it a good, thorough cleaning.

Bore is excellent, wood just needs a BLO scrub to get it up. While woods off, get the metal underneath a good cleaning and oil it up

Can anyone help me identify the headstamp on the surplus rounds?

Put a new extra power wolf spring in it and it will fire the surplus just fine. All of them Turks got garbage striker springs.

I was looking at your headstamp and was wondering ......How does that ammo fire? That headstamp looks like its written in Farsi and may be the Persian (Iranian) stuff Samco was selling back in the day. I still have a crate or two of that. It has a lion holding a sword on the crate. I got lots of hang fires and duds but it was cheap. Its great for pulling down into components though if you reload.

Here is some pix of the crate it came in below. I'm on the road so I can't dig out the ammo for a look see right now.

I hope this helps.

oopps, I was wrong again. I did some looking around. This link says the headstamp for the surplus ammo you are holding is Egyptian and the writing is arabic.

See https://m.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/5cmjk2/turkish_and_greek_head_stamps_on_8mm_mauser/

I hope this helps. How does if shoot in case I ever run across some of that Egyptian ammo?

I hadn't had a chance to shoot any of the surplus ammunition yet. I got to shoot about 5 rounds through it on Thanksgiving and no more cause I was behind schedule getting to my parents and I was losing light. Fired 5 rounds PPU to ensure function and check the spent brass

Should have opportunity to go back shooting again soon hopefully

If ya do that...send me the crappy old Turk spring...They ignite my reloads just fine...
If I get a Spring that batters or pierces my primers, I trade it off....

OldGrouchyGuy is correct that ammo you show is Egyptian and know to be inaccurate. Normal Turk is hot, but hard primers, hence the stronger spring. Persian has a crown and is currently sold as defective from samco and now SG ammo has tons of it for components, Syrian generally has stars on the headstamp and was sold by SG ammo. If you stick to Privi or reloads with soft primers your spring should be ok, but if you fire Yugo surplus, Turk, or that Egyptian you may need to up the striker spring. But do not go to strong-- the more powerful the spring the harder the trigger pull gets.
see this old post viewtopic.php?f=34&t=87821&hilit=+turk+mauser+springs

If you like to gamble with Iranian Junk ammo see SG ammo http://www.sgammo.com/product/8mm-mause ... ld-no-warr

   =D> =D> :thumb: Ya , iffy at best, and should be at 10 cents per round. They are nuts trying to sell off old samco garbage. With shipping it might be around 13 cents per round. Brittle brass, filty powder for the garden, and what you got is the bullet. about 40 % might be click bangs

Give me Old Yugo with splits and 5 % no fires or good old, hot, Turk ammo that always goes bang. That stuff is always worth 25-30 cents per round

Have you ever tried Yugo M75? I have handloaded for 40 years and I am hard pressed to beat M75 with my handloads using Nosler match bullets.
