My favorite gun I own is an Saiga in 7.62x39 that I had saved from a Bubba Gunsmith job:) I bought it from a guy who let some dude attempt to do a conversion but he ended up damaging it. The receiver where the pistol grip sat was tweaked, the trigger guard was cut bad, and the furniture was god awful, and to top it off the barrel had to be cut because the front sight was drilled through one of the dimples to deep. I bought it off of him cheap and proceeded to get the correct parts to have it properly converted by a Gunsmith in Denton Texas who did a fantastic job saving it for me.

It's my favorite gun because of the quest to save her, and also because all this was taking place during the aftermath of the Sandy Hook stuff which meant the future was uncertain.

She shoots great!!

I fully converted my Saiga without a drill press. Hand drill and Tap. Just had to make sure it was level. You also need a press to remove the gas block and front sight. I picked up a 28mm Fsb and a 45 degree gas block. Did you install a G2 trigger?

I installed a Tapco G2 after conversion, but switched to an ALG trigger:)

Just bought a Vepr 5.45 16 inch the other day for a great price, I will be installing a bullet guide in her too, kinda disappointing that they have a slanted cut on the rear of the receiver but from what I have heard they are Excellent rifles.

Yeah it does suck but you can get a adapter from Carolina Shooting Supply for it. Then you can run a skeletal stock.
I did it on my Yugo M77 or just cut and weld the a piece from another receiver but that is a pain in the butt. I am sure once you get done, it will be sweet! 😀
