Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Noobie in the house!

#1 Post by jekbrown » Tue Oct 24, 2017 10:51 am

Hello everyone. I'm a former Marine 0311 that recently inherited a 1903 Springfield that has been in the family for 100+ years. I'm generally more of a MSR kinda guy but I need some help with some old school tech, so here I am. My plan for the rifle isn't really grand, I just want to learn about it's history, replace the stock with one that is original/appropriate, and make it a "wall hanger" to display in my home.

Anyway, thanks for having me! :P

Welcome to the forum from a Texas member. I have some firearms that have been in the family for several generations. Its nice to see them kept in the family.

Welcome Devil Dog. Good plan but shoot that rifle a few times at least. That model served our Marine forefathers for a long time.

yeah, this rifle has no S/N, so I'm not sure I want to shoot it, lol. My dad does handload ammo, so I suppose I could make a really tame load for it but at some point it would become a "shooting it just to say that I shot it" kind of thing...which seems kinda lame. I dunno, we'll see. I'll start a thread with pics here in a few mins and link it here... :)

Link to thread on my 1903...with tons of pics! If you REALLY know your inspection/proof mark history, I could really use your help! :)
